Museum of Glass – Tacoma

Last weekend my guy and I headed south from Seattle to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma.  We were seeking sun, color and inspiration.

The museum starts outside with beautiful glass sculptures that drink in sun.  The building itself it an artwork.  A giant silver cone that contains the glass “hot shop” underneath.  There are works from Chihuly  and Lino Tagliapietra amongst many others inside.

The highlight of the day was watching the artists in the hot shop creating a modern glass horse.  A giant circle with legs, tail and head.  It took many hours to complete this one piece and luckily we happened to get there for the final moments.

Here are a few highlights from the day.  The piece on slide #16 was my absolute favorite.  The delicate balance was absolutely stunning.
