NEW Watercolor and Ink Tree

I’ve been working on a new series of watercolor and ink trees.  I took some pictures along the way to show a few of the steps while creating.

These trees remind me of the idea that  “You can’t give away what you don’t already have.”  These trees have a creative, colorful belly which allows them to give that same energy to their far-reaching branches.

A finished tree in the upper right and two new trees in the works.  I started with a light pencil sketch and then added the paint…

Ready for ink.

Beginning to sketch in the branches while the sun shines in on my favorite coffee shop and hangout.

A finished tree…or so I thought.  After a couple of days I decided it needed a thicker black outline.

The tree is complete.  A thin structure with deep, creative, colorful and limitless energy.
